As our sport becomes more diverse and we have swimmers stretching themselves in terms of ability and distance, the club is pleased to announce some new records created following recent achievements.
Lottie Haworth-Blomfield represented the club at the SE NE Regional Championships last month. She is an S9 multi-classification (MC) swimmer and took part in both the 400m freestyle and 50m backstroke events. Lottie is the first female MC swimmer to have represented the club in competition having had great success with two male swimmers in the past. Her time for 400m freestyle was 6:55.74 and for 50m backstroke was 44.73, setting herself good targets for the next time she competes.
The club’s other new record was created as a result of Lily Cattlin achieving a time of 41:12.7 in the 3k open water swim at the SENW/SENE Championships at the weekend. Lily already holds the under 15 record in the same event but now she’s a little older, has had the chance to set the record for the open age group.
Well done to both girls!
