Metro are again League Champions!

Our swimmers took part in the final round of the Barnsley Minors Sprint League on September 9th and the results for this round are below:

METRO:140
STOCKSBRIDGE:123
ADWICK: 114
SHEFF CITY:107

This represents four wins out of four for Metro this season so again we are league champions.

A big shout out to coach James Guy and all swimmers and volunteers who took part.

Bring on next season!

Records broken at Derby

A few of our swimmers chose to compete at Derby last weekend and there were some excellent performances, most notably from Bow Gomersall and Maddie Johnson.

Bow absolutely smashed the under 15 boys 200m freestyle short course record with a time of 2:00.81. This was almost two seconds faster than the record set in 1999 by Steven Millican.

Maddie went on to beat one of Debbie Cocking’s 2016 records by the narrowest of margins with a time in the open girls 200m butterfly of 2:20.69.

So nice to see both Bow and Maddie adding to their records tally – well done to both!

Now that we are closer to the gala we can provide you with some updated information.

On Saturday 16th September the pool will not be open to any of the swimmers or TMs until 1pm, so please do not arrive before this time. Everyone will need to queue outside the venue and the venue will let us know when we are able to go in. The only people allowed access will be white shirt officials who may enter at 12.30pm. Girls will warm up first at 1.30pm followed by the boys at 1.55pm. The gala is not completely full, so while there will still be a short break after event 5, the session is expected to last around 3 hours in total.

On Sunday 17th we will now begin warm up with the boys at 8.00am and girls at 8.25am with swimming starting at 9am. (alteration to the 8am start).  Again, the session will be around 3 hours, with a short break after event 14. We will be able to access the pool as normal on the Sunday as there will be nobody in before us, the leisure centre will be open as usual.

Any withdrawals please send to susanainscough@icloud.com , as soon as possible OR on the day of the gala, at least an hour before the start of the gala.
