About the club

Rotherham Metro Amateur Swimming Club was formed in 1976 to organize and provide competitive swimming for its members who were also members of the Council’s Swimming Training Scheme. Since 2006 the club has become totally self-funding with the formation of Rotherham Metro Limited which now also has responsibility for the training of its members. We are a Swim 21 accrediated club.

The aim of the club is to be inclusive, welcoming anyone with an interest in competitive swimming. All members are well catered for with varying levels of competition. The training available is in line with National recommendations and aims to enable swimmers to reach their maximum potential. The club provides training time at local pools, currently Maltby, Aston, St Ann’s and Wath, and also provides the coaching staff.

We organise several open galas each year at the Ponds Forge complex at Sheffield and this has proved to be an extremely popular venue.  We run two long course galas. At the end of January we hold our ‘A’ and ‘B’ grade long course gala. In May we hold our ungraded Level 3 meet. These are set at a standard to allow less experienced swimmers to compete in a major event. We also run 2 short course graded galas in July and September.

Please read our notice boards. These are where you will see information about our current activities and forthcoming events.

This then is a brief introduction to Rotherham Metro. May your time with us be both successful and enjoyable.

Thanks
