Butterfly record for Maddie Johnson

Maddie Johnson added her name to our list of record breakers on Monday with a time of 28.38s in the heats of the 50m Butterfly at the NER Championships at Ponds Forge. This time beats the previous Open Girls record of 28.59s which had been held by Debbie Cocking since Aug 2016.

She then went on to better that in the final with a time of 28.35s. Many Congratulations to Maddie who was awarded the bronze medal in the process.

Ollie again adds his name to the record sheet at NER Championships

Ollie Davis-Tootill was again in record-breaking form at last weekend’s regional championships.

On Sunday, he broke the junior boys 100m freestyle record with a time of 56.14s and this beat the record of 56.26s previously held by Harri Thorman since 2018. Not only that, but he went even faster in the final so the record now stands at 55.84s.

Also on Sunday, he went on to break the record for the 50m backstroke with a time of 28.63s. This adds to the 100m backstroke record he already holds and the 50m record had been held by Robert Pearson since 2013.

Finishing the weekend on Bank Holiday Monday, he bettered a record in the 50m freestyle too beating Matthew Sotheran’s 2011 record of 25.91s with a time of 25.69s.

Ollie now holds four junior records!
